“Love your neighbor as yourself.” But who and how much? In Luke 10 Jesus tells a parable about a man who was beaten and left half dead on the side of the road. The priest and the Levite considered their priorities and rituals more important and went on down the road. Only the Samaritan put the injured man ahead of his priorities and safety. Even though Samaritans had been loathed by Jews for over 400 years, he was willing to inconvenience himself and cover any expense to save this man. Why? The images in this painting surround the words of Jesus. To understand God’s will for our lives it is important to understand the words of Jesus. Oh, who is the third person down the road? Is it me?
